Muhammed Almustafa (QRL) is a Mechatronics Engineering student specializing in imitation learning, robotics, and computer vision. His research focuses on translating animal movements into robotic motion using DeepLabCut, reinforcement learning, and robust control. He has experience with C++, Python, OpenAI Gym, PyBullet, and microcontroller programming, integrating AI, and robotics to develop adaptive robotic systems

                                                                        

Ibrahim S. Al-Tameemi is the founder and principal investigator of the Mesopotamia Scientific Lab and a faculty member in the Mechatronics Engineering Department. He holds a master’s degree in Robotics Engineering, completed as a Fulbright Scholar. His research focuses on legged robotics, surgical robotics, modern control systems, modeling, and soft actuators.

Faculty Members

Oger Amanuel is a co-founder of the lab and a faculty member in the Mechatronics Engineering Department. He is also a member of the LP Group, GLM Group, ISA Group, and RBE Group. His research interests include artificial intelligence, robotics, biomedical engineering, mechatronics, and EEG. He teaches courses in PLC, robotics, and sensors and measurements.

Sarah Ahmed is a Mechatronics Engineer and faculty member in the Mechatronics Engineering Department at Mesopotamia Scientific Lab. As a member of the QRL Group, she specializes in applying Deep Reinforcement Learning (DRL) to quadrupedal robots. Her research focuses on AI-driven robotics, quadrupedal locomotion, and imitation learning. She also teaches robotics, sensors and measurements, LabVIEW, and microcontroller programming.

Zubaidah Bilal (RBE) is a mechatronics engineer, researcher, and educator, currently serving as an assistant engineer at the University of Baghdad. She specializes in computer vision and robotics, mentoring students in computer vision, control, CAD, and biomechatronics labs, while actively enhancing university labs for hands-on learning. She is dedicated to bridging academia and industry to drive innovation. As a researcher at the Mesopotamia Scientific Lab, she focuses on advancing electromagnetic soft robotics research.

Merna Elbayoumi is a Fulbright Scholar and Assistant Lecturer at Menofia University, part of the RBE Group. She specializes in robotics and mechanical design, focusing on innovation and educating future engineers.

Kawthar Usamah is Biomedical Engineer and Research Assistant at Al-Ayen University. She specializes in numerical simulation, including fluid-structure interaction (FSI) simulations, electromagnetic field studies, and biomechanical system modeling in MATLAB. She is a member of the RBE group, dedicated to advancing computational methods in biomedical engineering.

Sajjad A. Al-Saimari is a senior Mechatronics Engineering student and Technical support for ISA and GLM groups . He is an artist, designer, trainer, and animal caretaker with a strong interest in control systems, robotics, and artificial intelligence. His primary focus includes remote control systems, the development of simulated ecological systems, ROS (Robot Operating System) for robotic simulation, and TensorFlow applications in deep learning models. Sajjad is a former member of the FIRST Global Challenge (Team Iraq) robotics team and has extensive experience in 2D and 3D design, CNC machine operation and maintenance, 3D printing, AI, robotics, and IoT. Additionally, he is proficient in C++ and Python programming.

Dr. Maher Yahya Salloom is a faculty member in the Mechatronics Engineering Department and a part of the SHEPMV Group. His research interests include applied mechanics, hydraulics and pneumatic control, industrial automation systems, PLC-based automation, and 3D printing and scanning technologies. He has contributed to the field with studies on magnetorheological valves, pneumatic control systems, and smart material applications.

Anas Yaseen (QRL) is a mechatronics engineer and master's student, specializing in robotics and AI. His research focuses on reinforcement learning, bipedal and quadrupedal locomotion, and control systems. He develops stable walking strategies for bipedal robots and explores imitation motion for quadrupeds. Skilled in Python, C++, MATLAB, OpenAI Gym, PyBullet, and Webots, he also works with Social LEAP, integrating AI, biomechanics, and robotics to create intelligent robotic solutions.

Mohamed Ghassan (ISA) is a sophomore mechatronics engineering student blending technical expertise with artistic creativity. As part of the machine learning team, he contributes to model development and hardware solutions for the twisted string actuator (ISA). He also specializes in 3D printing, designing and fabricating components for the project. Beyond engineering, Mohamed is a skilled painter, integrating artistic vision into technical designs, enhancing innovation and problem-solving.

Bassam Anees (ISA) is a sophomore mechatronics engineering student, His research focuses on Intertwined String Actuators (ISA) and their applications. He is developing a rehabilitation robot for neck therapy, integrating ISA insights into its design. Bassem specializes in SolidWorks design, 3D printing, and resource management, playing a key role in the project's development and support.

Tuqa Mohanad (ISA) is a sophomore mechatronics engineering student and a key member of the ISA project’s research and application teams. She enhances the research paper with valuable insights and contributes to developing a neck rehabilitation application using the twisted coiling actuator (ISA). Tuqa bridges theory and real-world applications, ensuring innovation and practicality. Beyond engineering, she is also a musician, bringing creativity to problem-solving and design.

Assel Amer (ISA) is a sophomore mechatronics engineering student and research team member. She analyzes previous studies, identifies gaps, and provides insights to enhance the project's problem-solving strategies. Beyond engineering, Assel is a musician in the Iraqi National Orchestra, blending analytical and artistic skills..

Taha Muthanna is a sophomore mechatronics engineering student, specializing in robotics and automation. Skilled in SOLIDWORKS and hands-on engineering, he focuses on developing and optimizing intertwined string actuators (ISA). With a passion for practical applications, Taha designs and refines mechanical systems, aiming to advance mechatronic technology and improve actuator performance.

Banin Khalid is a senior Mechatronics Engineering student and GLM Group member, passionate about biomedical engineering and machine learning. She is developing a machine learning model to predict blood sugar levels from saliva glucose data, aiming to advance non-invasive diagnostics. Beyond engineering, she enjoys drawing and Russian literature.

Baneen Waleed is a senior Mechatronics Engineering student and GLM Group member, specializing in sample collection and analysis for the project. Passionate about robotics and design, she combines technical expertise with creativity. Beyond engineering, she enjoys drawing and exploring various art forms.

Ahmed Atheer (ISA) is a sophomore mechatronics engineering student, specializing in machine learning for intertwined string actuators (ISA). He uses symbolic and polynomial regression to model the relationship between motor angle, weight, and speed, improving actuator control and efficiency. Passionate about physics and mathematics, Ahmed focuses on developing interpretable, data-driven models that advance intelligent mechanical systems.
